Senseless Loss

The senseless loss of friends so near and far
An all too frequent news these days are
Reminding us these moments to cherish dear
Perhaps even driving us to know fear
Love in each moment as we know
For this will allow true love to show
It is hard not to let this shadow cast its pall
Over the day our friend received the call
Come home dear child, come home
Cannot rejoice though I know by the tome
Another angel stands this night
With our lord of everlasting light

As his army grows larger and larger
My world grow smaller and smaller
And so it will shrink until that time
When we are all together again without time
Nothing to mark and no marks upon us
On that day I will rejoice with tears of joy
But today, I cannot be so coy

Perhaps tomorrow, memories dear
Will come to me without the salt of tears
