The world is ending. America is in ruins! Didn’t you hear? It seems to end and be ruined about twice a day now. At least it is down from the half a dozen times a day during Obama’s tenure as President or the dozen times a day during the campaign. Obama was destroying us. Hillary and Trump were going to destroy us. Now, Trump is all by his lonesome destroying us, and apparently he is not real competent at it. This is why the media has lost it’s influence with most of the people.
Most of us as children were told the little fable of the boy and the wolf. He was bored while out shepherding his flock and so to get attention, he cried, “Wolf!” The people would come running but would be upset when no wolf was there to be found and no harm had been done to the sheep. After a few times of this, a real wolf came, and the little shepherd boy cried, “Wolf!” But, this time no one came. His credibility had been spent for attention.
This is what media outlets mainstream and not are doing. They want page views and subscriptions and eyeballs on their videos. And they will do anything to get them. This is how an increase in the amount of fines for littering become, “City to fine and jail clumsy people (who drop stuff.)” It’s technically accurate, but when it’s a $5 increase to handle the increased costs, it’s hardly a world ending event.
And they do this with almost every story. Two facts and three pages of supposition about how this issue can lead to the “End of the world as we know it.” Queue R.E.M. Really? Vaccines are going to destroy the world? Anti-vaxxers are going to cause us all to die in the next plague? Come ON! Every story is not the story of the day, week, decade or century. And some issues will be with us 100 years from now. There are some differences that we just won’t ever really overcome. But we can learn to live and let live, like generations of Americans before us. Before Social Media.
Anyway, someone needs to get some breeding pairs of actual Journalists to the local zoo’s so we can preserve the species. They can exhibit them with the American Factory Workers, Home Appliance Repairmen and Family Farmers. I think I am going on YouTube now to watch some “Hold my beer and watch this” videos. Or, maybe some cute cats. Someone let me know when our President has killed us, OK? Thanks in advance!
